The most important part of your question is, “I really don’t want to leave.” It shows you don’t want to jump ship, but with “limited room to grow,” maybe your current job is no longer as challenging as it once was.
To remedy the situation, look around your company for other jobs that offer new challenges, or the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that would keep your interest piqued. If such opportunities exist, negotiate with management to move into one of those areas — even on a part-time basis, if necessary, to see if you would find those jobs fulfilling. One of them may be a perfect fit, or you may come to appreciate what you are doing now even more.
Should your company not offer those jobs or opportunities, it may be time to leave. Respectfully, gracefully, and openly begin seeking other jobs that might supply interesting challenges as well as career advancement. Leaving a job you’ve invested a great deal of your time and energy in is never easy. But after candidly discussing the situation with management, a job change may be better for all concerned, because people are happier when they migrate to a new opportunity rather than run from a stagnant situation. To paraphrase an old saying, if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth leaving it as well.
